HISTORY
Founded by Saint. Julie Billiart in France in 1804, the Institute of Notre Dame is marked by her Charismatic spirit, which is simplicity of vision and joy in communicating to all people the Goodness of God. Urged by the Spirit and Charism of St. Julie, Sister Mary Aloysia and Sister Mary Ignatia founded the institute of Notre Dame in Coesfeld, Germany in 1850. From Germany Notre Dame has spread to other parts of the world .The Institute gives witness to God’s love by involvement in various educational, social and medical services in Germany, Italy, Belgium, England, Holland, the United States of America, Korea, Indonesia, India, Papua New Guinea, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Mozambique and China. The first Notre Dame School in India was founded in Jamalpur, Bihar in 1949. Today Notre Dame Institutions are found in the States of Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Delhi, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Jammu-Kashmir, Kerala, Jharkhand, Assam, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh.
